itxura

itxura, means “figure” or “appearance” in Euskera (Basque).

Created in October 2025, itxura is a sculptural piece built around a skateboard transformed through material intervention. Conceived specifically for the charitable exhibition and auction organised by the MOSS Foundation and held at Palo Alto in Barcelona.

The piece was created from a skateboard and features steel, concrete, and ultra-black paint. Its focus on presence, balance, and movement continues the conceptual path initiated with Orekan, an earlier work in which human silhouettes and motion were explored through the expressive potential of steel.

Created from materials that define skateboarding’s landscapes: concrete and steel skate parks. By reworking these materials, the piece reconnects with the physical memory of motion, balance, and experimentation that lies at the core of skate culture.

Finally, the entire surface was finished with an ultra-black pigment that absorbs up to 97 per cent of the light. This coating hides the concrete texture at a distance, while revealing subtle details as the viewer approaches or moves around the piece. The shifting visibility enhances the contrast with the steel figure and reinforces the theme of movement.
